Howdy everyone!! I'm sorry I've been quiet lately.
Just preparing to get going. Heading out really soon and can't stand it!!
Ok, before I head out, I'll give you a run down of the plan.
This is "Pinky":
A 2005 Suzuki LS650 "Savage"
A "Thumper" is a term given to this style of bike with the single cylinder, which gives it a particular sound and feel. Hence, "Thumpers" ("One lunger" is also popular.)
Pretty much stock except for some carburetor adjustments, windshield, and, T-Kat fork brace.
The bike is by no means the biggest out there...in fact, Well, the best way I can analogize this is:
Imagine you wanted to cross the Atlantic Ocean. Your choice of vessels ranged from, say, a 12' Skiff (moped/scooter), and, a 100' Luxury Yacht (Goldwing/BMW/Glide)......
I'm crossing the Atlantic in a Shrimp Boat.
But she's my ship, she's sturdy, reliable, and she's fit's me just fine.
I'm going to be heading from Sarasota FL to the Pacific Northwest in Canada and back. Ideally.
Principal gear I'm taking:
Full helmet (scorpion)
Gloves (Two pair, light/heavy/rain.....Make that four pair, I think. Joe Rocket)
Jacket w/liner (Joe Rocket Ballistic)
Chaps (Leather)
Rain suit (Frogg toggs)
Boots (Magnum Phantom)
Other items include:
Other clothes (Duh, but, little more than one other change. I'm gonna need to launder!) Toiletries, camping gear, tool kit, tire kit, first aid kit. maps, camera and computer. That's about it.
I can pick stuff up along the way or pitch what I don't need.
On the camping gear, I couldn't do the tent/sleeping arrangement because it was just too big and I didn't want the leaning tower of baggage on the bike. So, I'm going back to using the 2 tarp/2 blanket setup that I've used forever.

OH! And, I'm not traveling alone. Troy is somewhere in New Jersey, and, have no idea when he'll be back. (He never tells me anything!) But SOPHIE said she'll go.
I met her at the Big Night Out show downtown. She had nothing to do, so, she said, "What the heck!"
